The University of Pennsylvania: History Assistant Professor in Medieval Europe – Call For Applications

The Department of History at the University of Pennsylvania invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor in Medieval Europe, field and period open. The candidate will participate in the undergraduate and graduate teaching mission of the Department. Receipt of the PhD is expected by the time of appointment.

Please include letter of application, curriculum vitae, writing sample, and the contact information of three individuals who will provide letters of recommendation. Recommenders will be contacted by the University with instructions on how to submit letters to the website. If the writing sample is part of a dissertation or other major project, include an abstract explaining the sample’s relationship to the larger work. Review of applications will begin 2 November 2015 and continue until the position is filled. Preliminary interviews will take place at the American Historical Association annual meeting in Atlanta.

Getty Foundation Library Research Grants – Call For Applications

Getty Library Research Grants provide partial, short-term support for costs relating to travel and living expenses for scholars whose research requires use of specific collections housed in the Getty Research Institute.

Library Research Grants are intended for scholars of all nationalities and at any level who demonstrate a compelling need to use materials housed in the Research Library, and whose place of residence is more than eighty miles from the Getty Center. Projects must relate to specific items in the library collection.

Library Research Grants are intended to provide partial support for costs relating to travel and living expenses. Grants range from $500 to $2,500, depending on the distance traveled. The research period may range from several days to a maximum of three months.

Complete application materials are now accepted through an online application process only. The next deadline for these grants is October 15, 2015.
