Dr Sarah Bendall

Sarah Bendall is Senior Lecturer at the Australian Catholic University. Her research examines the production, trade and consumption of global commodities and fashionable consumer goods, particularly during the long 17th century. She is author of Shaping Femininity (Bloomsbury, 2021), and co-editor of Embodied Experiences of Making in Early Modern Europe (Amsterdam University Press, 2024). She is a co-investigator on the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council’s Making Historical Dress Network and her next monograph, The Women Who Clothed the Stuart Queens: Gender and Work in the Royal Wardrobe and the Fashion Marketplace, is forthcoming with Bloomsbury.

Sarah was elected to the ANZAMEMS committee in 2025.
